Flipping Yourself

In May I posted Voting 2024/Flipping the House and in June it was Voting 2024/Flipping Your Wig.

Today it’s about flipping yourself and all you have to do is vote, and make sure your network of friends are also voting. Talk about it. We are putting Harris in the White House and electing Democrats to Congress this Fall.

Lee Papa (The Rude Pundit) put it succinctly when he penned the Harris nomination and campaign and movement (which is really what it's become) offers hope, yes, in the Obama sense of making life better for more people. But because she's taking the fight right to MAGA's dumb faces, she is offering hope that Trump and MAGA can be crushed out of existence. The "weird" attack has punctured the rhetorical dome they were living under. They are hurt and confused, like baboons with shit to hurl but no idea how to hurl it in the right direction. And taking down JD Vance, who was the billionaire class's choice to make Trumpism outlast Trump, is a strategy that cuts off a future. 

And the Guardian reports that the peculiarities of the US’s electoral college will almost certainly see November’s presidential election decided by voters in just seven states. Four – Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina and Georgia – lie in the southern sun belt. But it is the three to the north – the rust belt states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – that Democratic strategists are focused on. They are, in many ways, the real battleground within the battleground.

Simon Rosenberg’s the Hopium Chronicles is a Substack worth reading in case you’re unfamiliar. In today’s post he writes in the two battleground state polls released this week Harris had leads in AZ, MI, NV, PA, WI, was tied in GA and down just 2 in North Carolina. Our Senate polling remains encouraging throughout the battlegrounds. The Harris campaign has more money, more volunteers and a far superior ground game. All the Senate and House campaigns I spoke to in the last few weeks say they’ve seen a spike in money and volunteers. We’ve seen explosion of pro-Kamala, anti-Trump/Vance organic activity on social media, from Zoom events to lonely couch memes. The Vice President is bringing it, performing at the highest level of the game, strong, confident. Our successful President continues to govern effectively, and get things done for the American people and the people of the world.

In Arizona the eligible voting population is 5,358,326 and in 2020, 66% turned out to vote. The Democrats won by only one point. We can take the state once again and it is incredibly easy to vote here. To request a mail-in ballot, go here.

In those northern battleground states mentioned above, Michigan voted Democratic by only 3 points in 2020, Pennsylvania Democratic by one point, and Wisconsin also Democratic by one point.

If you know people living in these states please encourage them to cast a vote. For Harris. And any other Democrat.

Once again I’ll mention Michael Moore as he posted yesterday of a plan that involves a blueprint and a strategy that, beginning today, working together, we can use to actually, once and for all, end the career of a political arsonist, the man who attempted to overthrow the duly-elected government of the United States of America, the 34-time convicted felon, self-admitted sexual abuser, and one-time Dean of Trump University: Donald J. Trump (AKA: Fuckleroy). 

By electing Democrats to all offices the plan is to Restore full women’s rights; Protect all of our freedoms; Ensure health care, elder care, and child care for all; End all voter suppression and undemocratic actions, from the electoral college to gerrymandering to the filibuster; Get the money out of politics; End the war in Palestine; Reform the Supreme Court; Create an economic democracy that allows the working class and the middle class to thrive; Make the rich pay their taxes; And Save this beautiful planet that God gave us. 

Biden, an old white guy, was willing to step aside for a younger, more diverse demographic to take over. Now it is our job to purge politics of the old white guys imposing their wills on the diverse population of our country. We won’t have it.

JUST. VOTE. BLUE.

BTW, Thom Hartmann reports we should beware of fundraising scams! If, like me, your phone has been inundated with fundraising pitches from organizations claiming to represent everything from Democrats to retired people to students to individual politicians, here’s a simple bit of advice: Don’t click on the link and don’t respond! Markos Moulitsas over at Daily Kos points out that most all of these groups are actually running scams, raising millions and then simply paying themselves “consulting fees” to pocket your money. Adding to the confusion, most of them use Act Blue, which is also used to process credit cards for actual Democratic candidates. (Act Blue says they can’t vet organizations.) If you want to donate to a politician or campaign, go to their website and use that link. Never, ever give money to a group or campaign that texts you.
