“Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole—that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country, that’ll be the least of it.” —Fuckleroy
“There is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting and in terms of also the theft and the bad management of entitlements.” —Fuckleroy
“… if you call them people. I don’t know if you call them people. in some cases they’re not people, in my opinion, but I’m not allowed to say that because the radical left says that’s a terrible thing to say. they say ‘you have to vote against him because did you hear what he said about … humanity?’ I’ve seen the humanity and these humanity— these are baaaaad— these are animals, ok? and we have to stop it.” —Fuckleroy
H. C. Richardson jumped on the same points I made in last Tuesday’s post about our choices ahead. In her post she noted that Project 2025 stands on four principles that it says the country must embrace. In their vision, the U.S. must “Restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children” (No more gay marriage, folks); “Dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people” (That means a strongman dictating terms; it doesn’t mean Elroy down at the Mini-Mart); “Defend our nation’s sovereignty, borders, and bounty against global threats” (Round up anyone with dark skin pigment); and “Secure our God-given individual rights to live freely—what our Constitution calls ‘the Blessings of Liberty.’ (A Christian Fascist nation)” In almost 1,000 pages, the document explains what these policies mean for ordinary Americans. Restoring the family and protecting children means making “family authority, formation, and cohesion” a top priority and using “government power…to restore the American family.” That, the document says, means eliminating any words associated with sexual orientation or gender identity, gender, abortion, reproductive health, or reproductive rights from any government rule, regulation, or law. Any reference to transgenderism is “pornography” and must be banned.
Project 2025 presents an apocalyptic vision of a United States whose dark problems can be fixed only by a minority assuming power under a strongman and imposing their values on the rest of the country. And yet the authors of the document assert that it is not them but their opponents who do “not believe that all men are created equal—they think they are special. They certainly don’t think all people have an unalienable right to pursue the good life. They think only they themselves have such a right along with a moral responsibility to make decisions for everyone else.”
In Phoenix (why am I just now hearing about this, and in the Washington Post yet?) as the board of supervisors for Arizona’s largest county abruptly ended a meeting late last month, a swarm of people rushed toward the dais, shouting that the members were illegitimate. After the meeting’s live-feed went dead, a member of the crowd yelled that a “revolution” was underway.
“I’m here today to put you on public notice and to inform you that you are not our elected officials,” said Michelle Klann, co-founder of a pro-Trump group, from a podium she had commandeered. “This is an act of insurrection. Due to all the voter fraud, you have never been formally voted in.” Klann also asserted that without evidence that the county board represented foreign interests — not constituents of Maricopa County.
Fuckleroy and the huge corporate interests behind Project 2025 have an army of these no-nothings willing to believe that the policies and agendas of the new GOP have their best interest in mind…FREEDOM! It’s backwardsville, USA.
And there is hardly any mention in the media of Fuckleroy’s vice-president refusing to endorse Fuckleroy’s candidacy because he believes he is a traitor to the Constitution and a danger to America. Jonathan Last of the Bulwark said that the New York Times has only mentioned this fact twice while there have been hundreds, if not thousands, of stories about Biden’s age published. No American vice president has ever said that his former boss is unfit to serve. It is the most devastating possible observation from the most credible source in existence. Pence’s refusal to endorse Trump should be part of the context of every single story about this campaign.
In a bit of good news, if polls are to be believed, the Guardian reports that a large majority of Americans surveyed in a new poll reject Donald Trump’s argument that presidents should be immune from criminal prosecution for crimes committed while in office. The Politico/Ipsos poll, released yesterday, found that 70% of respondents rejected this position, including 48% of Republicans. Only 11% of respondents agreed with Trump’s position that presidents should have criminal immunity for conduct while in office. And another bit of karma is that after being spurned by 30 companies to secure a $454 millions judgement band in the state of New York, New York attorney general Letitia James could possibly seize his assets by March 25. Bwwhahhahhaaaaaaa.
But most ‘good’ news about Fuckleroy has historically been akin to Lucy pulling the football aside for Charlie ‘Biden’ Brown. He is seemingly the single luckiest politician who ever lived. A federal judge has declared him liable for rape. He faces paying a half-billion dollars in legal judgments for fraud and defamation. Twice impeached, then defeated for reelection, he has been charged with 91 felonies. He has been arrested and his mug shot published; he will spend much of the year in and out of courtrooms. On the campaign trail, his rambling speeches are gaffe-ridden and prone to malapropisms and meltdowns.
And NOW Fuckleroy has renewed calls for Liz Cheney – his most prominent Republican critic – to be jailed for her role in investigating his actions during the January 6 Capitol attack launched by his supporters in 2021, a move that is bound to raise further fears that the former president could persecute his political opponents if given another White House term.
And just this morning the Guardian reported that, in an interview Monday, he claimed that Jewish people who vote for Democrats “hate Israel” and “hate their religion”. “I think they hate Israel. And the Democrat party hates Israel. Any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion. They hate everything about Israel and they should be ashamed of themselves because Israel will be destroyed,” he bleated.
The guy is just exhausting and relentless in his blustering rhetoric and speechifying to the point of normalizing his behavior, numbing folks to the point of apathy and indifference. We cannot afford to be numb about voting in November.
And now…
I saw a small snippet of the Maricopa BOS meeting incident. It looked like the same looney people who were upending school board meetings. Like the Vail incident, these people were trying to "elect" new supervisors on the spot. In Vail, these protestors tried to elect new school board members. No validity, just someone who ignored their US Government class in high school.
