Tuesday’s Cloud Seeding
Art, Music, and NO KINGS
A friend of mine posted the video below on FB the other day. It’s revealing how many of our social problems seem to boil down to regular folks VS the millionaire-billionaire class. Right now, they are winning. We’ve regressed to the Gilded Age where titans of everything have created unprecedented wealth inequality, along with corruption on all levels, resulting in widespread poverty.
That’s what has happened in West Virginia where Bernie Sanders met with working class people who wonder where their next meal is coming from. Worth the watch.
This was produced by More Perfect Union, an Emmy-winning, nonprofit newsroom whose mission is to build power for working people. They also have a Substack that’s worth a perusal.
While normal people are trying to get on with their lives, Doctors *rump & Kennedy gave a press conference yesterday outlining their o-so-scientific findings: Mr. Kennedy noted that autism was a “multi-factorial” disease, but then zeroed in on vaccines, which he has long argued are at least partly to blame for the rising incidence of autism in children. He and Mr. Trump both accused health agencies of previous administrations of purposely turning a blind eye to vaccine risks and dismissed research on the genetics of the neurodevelopmental disorder.
And *rump added, “Don’t take Tylenol. Don’t take it. Fight like hell not to take it.” He urged pregnant women to “tough it out” when in pain, except in rare instances, such as a dangerously high fever.
So all you women-folk, take heed! And get back in the kitchen!!
As far as taking any over-the-counter drug is concerned, the less the better. A high school friend, who’s career was in the pharmaceutical industry, wrote on FB that many other medicines besides Tylenol contain acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol), including prescription painkillers, nighttime cold and flu formulas, and headache pills. Acetaminophen has long been known as a clear cause of fatal liver failure if taken in too large a dose. Recommended dose (from all sources) is limited to 4 g (4000 mg) daily. Even with the clear risk of a consumer potentially ingesting dangerous amounts of the drug from multiple OTC products, the benefit of the drug outweighs the concern. But, the drug was developed back in the ‘50s, decades before drug safety testing had matured to what it is today, or even as far back as the 1970s, so there may be things that are not completely understood about acetaminophen.
And in the category of the Let’s Fuck With Ease of Voting campaign from the orange menace, even Arizona’s Andy Biggs, almost orange himself, breaks with the president when it comes to mail voting. My Gawd, can you hear that? Is that the sound of angels singing? The good news is that *rump’s sweeping condemnation of mail voting gives swing-state Republicans one more reason to worry. Love the beads of sweat on those MAGAs!
Save the date of Saturday, October 18 as another NO KINGS DAY event. There may be multiple events in the works and one of them is sponsored by Indivisible and will take place on River Road north and west of Trader Joe’s on Campbell (Tucson, AZ). Check the link for details and also for events in your area.
Phin and Mitch Anderson are also organizing an event to possibly be held downtown. If you can help with their effort, fill out this form. If you’d like to be on their email list, write to Phin at phineas@democracyunitesus.org.
And let’s all hope Grijalva wins in a landslide this evening!
If you’re going to be in London this fall, make sure to check out the paintings of James Kerry Marshall at the Royal Academy, now through January 18. Eddy Frankel, writing for The Guardian, gushes that he is arguably America’s greatest living painter, elevating everyday black life to the level of epic, jaw-dropping masterpieces.
Marshall says “Human beings are much more complicated than any of us would like to recognize, It’s easier to create boogeymen and scapegoats. And it’s also easy not to take responsibility for being a part of any of that. It’s always somebody else. I think this is critical: in all of the works I do, black people have agency.”
And here’s your reminder that the Morpholinos will be at Monterey Court this Thursday…adult hours from 6:30-9pm. Be there! (you can see below how hard we’re concentrating to play that one chord really well)
And mark your calendars for what will be a lovely afternoon of music and friends at Brian and Gail’s 1st House Party of the season, Saturday, November 1. You can see the instructions for RSVP and times in the poster below. Gonna be a blast!
And now…

Gary, the West Virginia video was so good!
