Most of you know I scavenge ceramics to break up for my mosaic work. I have hundreds of plates and other various tableware, along with figurines and other tchotchkes that I saw, snip, and hammer to my liking. But there are many unusual and extraordinary plates that have come along in the past several years that are keepers. I think they’re works of art, and if they have no chips or cracks, I just can’t bring myself to smash ‘em up.
Here are just a few that I am slowly documenting. These are all 10-11” in diameter. Where there are markings or an insignia on the back, I’ve photographed that, too. Enjoy!
And now…
Lordy, Lordy, those plates are awesome! Of course, being a Kansas City boy I love that one of the plaza, but the rural scenes in the king and queen, all of them are just so cool. And thanks for the Bugs Bunny words of wisdom!!
