I know, you’re tired of hearing about this shit. This will actually be a short and easy read today, and starting off with some really cute kittens will soften the blow…
The Christonazi/Neoconfederate malignancy of the current GOP waited until just before midnight Friday to release the latest hate-filled provisions in the BIG UGLY BILL. They don’t want you, or you, or you, knowing about it.
Even though there were some cuts made, mostly due to US yelling at the top of our lungs, according to HCR the 2017 tax cuts for wealthy Americans and corporations will be made permanent, funneling wealth from the poorest Americans to the top 1%. And, the new measure would add $4.2 trillion to the national debt.
And more cherries include an additional $45 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain migrants, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion, giving ICE (unknown masked men: Gestapo) more money for detention than it gives the entire U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
And say bye bye to health care, as if it isn’t bad enough here already. To offset some of the tax cuts in the measure, the Senate bill cuts $930 billion out of Medicaid—more than the House bill cut—and, according to Ron Wyden (D-OR), makes additional cuts to Medicare and the Affordable Care Act. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the measure will cause 11.8 million Americans to become uninsured, almost a million more than would have lost health insurance under the House version.
So far, the only Republicans to vote with the Democrats to stop the bill from moving forward are Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Rand Paul of Kentucky.
What about the ‘concerned’ Lisa Murkowski? What about Jerry Moran in Kansas? Susan Collins in Maine? Todd Young in Indiana? Sen. John Curtis in Utah?
These are Republicans who have all expressed some concern about the state of the GOP. Yes, we need leadership in the Democratic Party. But for right now, changing a few Republican votes for this horrific bill seems to be of paramount importance.
Onward!
And now…
Grrrrr
