You read the news. You know all of this. I wasn’t going to post about the craziness going down right now but I’m compelled to speak up.
With the exception of 7 Republicans, 42 of them fell directly on their swords yesterday for an orangemanliarface who is no longer holding office but has some sort of stranglehold over them. As Republicans have weaponized and exploited racism, homophobia, Islamphobia, and xenophobia for decades, the angry white men with guns crowd has either frightened their ‘representatives’ or these 42 clowns just don’t care that those same folks, on January 6th, stormed the Capitol building, built a gallows, had zip ties, pipe bombs, and a cooler of Molotov cocktails with them, vandalized offices, chanted ‘Hang Mike Pence,’ killed a member of the Capitol police with a fire extinguisher, blah, blah, blah.
On the glass half full side the majority of the Senate DID vote to convict. I believe that most people sway toward decency, and as shown in the Presidential election, the 82 million majority have a chance to purge more of the Republican shysters in 2022. Look what happened in Georgia. F**king Georgia! It makes me believe it can even happen in Kansas, Missouri, and the red parts of Arizona. Damn.
Below is a list of Republican state and local officials who decided to attend the “Stop the Steal” demonstration. I’m all for protesting and demonstrations, but there’s a difference between making voices heard and mob hysteria.
According to the Huff Post, almost all of these people listed have resisted calls to resign. Maybe we the people can help out a bit by applying pressure where you live.
