As is my New Year’s tradition, I’ve posted my list of books read in 2023. Up until February, it was Milo the cat’s reading list but we lost our precious one then…so I had to start reading for him.
Some on the list include passages that provoked me in some way or another. Others were somewhat quick murder mystery reads, which I also love. Maybe you’ll see something here that will inspire you to purchase a new book, check out from the library, browse and buy in a thrift store, go to the library book sale—any number of options—just to READ! If you’re lucky, and you’re open to it, something you read will unscrew the top of your head and drop in new and fresh ways of interpreting and engaging in our rapidly changing world.
Why else? God. The man’s a seducer of prelates and a suborner of the judiciary. He’s an habitual mailcandler and a practicing gelignitionary, a mathematical platonism and a molester of domestic yardfowl. Principally of the dominecker persuasion. A chickenfucker, not to put too fine a point to it. —“The Passenger” Cormac McCarthy
The Sunday Sessions yesterday happened to fall on the 31st so we moved ‘church’ to an early evening gig. I tried to take selfies with all of our regulars on our two breaks but I know I missed a few. It was all done quickly and with low light, but you’ll get the idea. Everyone was in the festive spirit as we all took the plunge into the unknown that is 2024. Cheers!
And now…
Thank you, Gary, for the New Year greeting, reading suggestions, and the images of the Special "Church" session which Pat and I reluctantly missed do to a bronchial infection. Looking forward to our next musical gathering.

Right Gary! True stupidity is in curable, don’t most Republicans prove that point? And I have been waiting for your reading list. It is always of such interest to me. So much so that you inspired me years ago to start doing the same thing for myself, just to keep track of things. Your quote from the passenger was perfect and on the mark. It was one of my favorite reads of the last year along with your annual list and some other books I’ve read on bibliomania, I have become an insane book collector now. My love for Books, and a huge chunk of my retirement money goes toward buying rare books and other things to read that I love. Thanks 1 million buddy.
