Fuckleroy (pronounced fuk-el-roi) has been found guilty on ALL 34 counts of falsifying business records in his criminal scheme to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. It took the jury of 12 ordinary Americans less than 12 hours to decide. The justice system might just work after all and a giant thank you to Stormy Daniels. No more Republican Tough On Crime talk allowed after the nomination of a convicted felon for president. Of course, hypocrisy is a GOP strong suit.
While, rightly so, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes have no comment on the verdict, Arizona Republicans are falling all over themselves in defense of the New York conman and rapist; Kari Lake wrote that the verdict was the most egregious example of election interference and an outright mockery of the rule of law in the 246-year (4 months, 13 days, 6 hours, and 27 minutes) of our Republic.
Arizona Republican Party chair Gina Swoboda wrote, “This conviction is a blatant assault on the principles of justice. President Trump’s trial was marred by bias and a predetermined agenda, stripping him of the fair trial to which every American is entitled to. We stand resolutely behind President Trump and the Arizona Republican Party will not waver in our fight to uphold justice and ensure that political opposition is not silenced through judicial overreach.”

In other news of judicial overreach, Republican appointed Chief Justice Alito decides not to recuse Chief Justice Alito in pending January 6 ruling.

Columnist Catherine Rampell, writing for the Washington Post, says, I agree that we journalists generally give more play to bad economic numbers than good ones. We’ve also done a lousy job of helping the public understand what the right benchmarks are, such as whether they should expect prices to fall outright, what counts as a “good” GDP report, or how our outcomes compare to those in other countries.
She opens the article with most Americans (55 percent) think the economy is shrinking, with about the same share saying we’re in a recession. In reality, the U.S. economy has been growing consistently for nearly two years, even after accounting for inflation. By virtually every benchmark, in fact, we’re exceeding growth expectations. The U.S. economy has been outperforming other advanced economies. We’re also doing better than pre-pandemic forecasts had situated us by now, both in terms of gross domestic product and the number of jobs out there. This generally isn’t true elsewhere in the world.
Spread the word, folks.

Today’s post is short as I just arrived in Minneapolis yesterday for a long weekend of music and art with some of my buddies originally from the Sunflower state.
