“If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week.”
— Senator John Fetterman, (D-PA)
“My colleague said that you should be held in contempt of Congress and that is quite rich because the guy leaving the hearing room, Mr. Jordan, is about 500 days into defying his subpoena. 500 days. if we talk about contempt of Congress, let's get real. Jim Jordan, are you serious? A witness to one of the greatest crimes ever committed, a crime on which more prosecutions have occurred than any other, refuses to help this country and we get lectured about compliance? Jim Jordan will not honor a lawful subpoena. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? There is no credibility on that side. You are serious, they are not. You are fair, they are not.” — Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) at a Judiciary subcommittee hearing on Thursday about “compliance with committee oversight” as the coward Jim Jordan left the room

In the category for a Modicum of Hope, Prince William and Sir David Attenborough, with the aim of finding solutions to seemingly intractable problems that are destroying our planet, launched the Earthshot Prize in 2020. According to CNN, All finalists will also have access to mentorship resources and support through a year-long Earthshot Prize Fellowship Programme “to accelerate the growth of their groundbreaking solutions.”

And In the category of No Hope at All, “We have a man who is totally corrupt and the worst president in the history of our country, who is cognitively impaired. In no condition to lead and is now in charge of dealing with Russia, and possible nuclear war. Just think of it. We would be in World War II very quickly,” said an orange flim-flam Florida man recently. More gems: "I had a meeting at the Pentagon with lots of generals ... they were like from a movie, better looking than Tom Cruise and stronger. And I had more generals than I've ever seen." “You know, I was told if you get 63 million, which I got in 2016, you get 63 million votes, you win. I got 75 million votes. I got 12 million more, more than any other sitting president ever by far, not even close.”
And now this guy is performing historically well among Black and Hispanic voters, according to an article in the Washington Post. Across five high-quality polls that have broken out non-White voters in the past month, Trump is averaging 20 percent of Black voters and 42 percent of Hispanic voters.
“The Mexican legal system is corrupt, as is much of Mexico. Pay me the money that is owed me now - and stop sending criminals over our border.” “Mexico's court system corrupt. I want nothing to do with Mexico other than to build an impenetrable WALL and stop them from ripping off U.S.” “I have black guys counting my money. … I hate it. The only guys I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes all day.” “Laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that.”
Sometimes I just don’t understand…

But check this as we head back to Hopesville! Blog for Arizona reported that more than 75 youth climate activists in Tucson rallied to join student climate protesters around the world who are calling for an end to fossil fuels as the earth heats up. In Tucson, several youth activists spoke at El Presidio Plaza in downtown Tucson on September 15, 2023, to demand local action in the state of Arizona. Ojas Sanghi, the Tucson co-lead of the Arizona Youth Climate Coalition‘s Tucson (Yes, there’s a bunch of young’n’s fighting the good fight!) chapter, opened the event. “We demand that politicians do much more to address the water crisis and address the natural disasters that are heat waves. That’s right. Now let’s make sure those politicians up in Phoenix hear us from here,” he said.
Regarding the U.N. General Assembly this week in Manhattan, we all heard news of Ukraine and Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plea for more money and action. What you didn’t see on the local news was that an estimated 75,000 people filled the streets of midtown Manhattan to send a clear message to the world and leaders coming to the city for the U.N. General Assembly this week to end fossil fuels. More than 700 grassroots groups together called on President Joe Biden to declare a climate emergency, stop all federal approvals for new fossil fuel projects, phase out production of fossil fuels on federal public lands, and build a new clean energy future.
And in the hope of recruiting a younger generation to be involved in building a climate workforce of the future, the White House on Wednesday unveiled a new climate jobs training program, The American Climate Corp, that it says could put 20,000 people to work in its first year on projects like restoring land, improving communities' resilience to natural disasters and deploying clean energy.

And In the category of What the Hell and The Band Played On: Minor High School's band director, Johnny Mims, in Birmingham, Alabama was shocked with a stun gun by the Birmingham police due his wanting to finish the last song they were playing in the stands. The crowd starts yelling as the body cam footage moves to show an altercation between officers and the band director. It is unclear who started the altercation. An officer then deploys a stun gun three separate times in front of a crowd full of students. Mims was taken to UAB Hospital and then Birmingham City Jail, where he was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and resisting arrest, police said. "All I remember is hearing all of my students screaming, all of the parents crying," Mims said. "It was a horrifying situation. I just hate to even have to keep talking about it."

Just one more story as John Waters quipped that he’s “closer to the gutter than ever" as his name was added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week. And that crocheted blazer collar!
And now…
…..or a contemporary redo of “Even Dwarfs Started Small” with bobble heads Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, Loren Bobbert, Ted Cruz, MTG, Josh Hawley, and (just because it’s my comment and I can add anyone I want) KS’s own Kris Kobach!
Just great observations, but these Republicans...WTF???
